JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director: IT, the System Engineer's duties will include managing network and systems interconnections, backup operations and ensuring the highest level of quality support for our staff.

The applicant must be able to define and document system topologies, configurations, processes and procedures. In addition to this the candidate will also have the opportunity to be involved in engagements with our customers. The successful candidate should be comfortable with remote deployments and providing remote support and assistance. Third level support for server and site issues is required.

This position demands a passion for technology and expert working knowledge of networking, security and systems. The successful candidate must be a motivated, driven individual with a desire to work in a challenging team environment.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

• Experience in building, deploying, installing, monitoring and maintaining the health of a Windows 2003 server and active directory network.
• Experience in building, deploying, installing, monitoring and maintaining the health of Windows XP and Vista workstations.
• Expert in troubleshooting. This includes general windows operating system issues, AD, Exchange, and general PC related issues and show ingenuity in solving problems on their own.
• Experience and management with group policies.
• Ability to rapidly troubleshoot server, workstation or network related errors and determine the source.
• Experience with Microsoft's Virtual PC and Virtual Server software.

• Exchange / Messaging:

• Past experience with Microsoft Exchange.
• Hands on working experience with upgrading, managing, and troubleshooting exchange environments.

• SQL Server:

• Simple database maintenance experience such as backing up, restoring, understanding and executing simple SQL queries.
• SQL troubleshooting such as maintaining log and transaction files.

• WAN / LAN:

• Experience with WAN/LAN infrastructure, including TCP/IP, HTTP, FTP, DHCP and DNS.
• Familiarity with SSL, web security, firewall and intrusion detection.
• Experience with VPN, IPSec, Anti-virus and PKI.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related field or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years in a network administration role, preferably within a corporation of 100 employees or more.
• A networking certification or diploma, preferably MCSE 2003 certification.
• A+, N+ and Security+ certification(s) would be an asset.
